We operate throughout Poland - in large metropolitan areas and small towns. We employ several thousand people and cooperate with local service providers and suppliers. We are everywhere, so we have many neighbours with whom we want to build good relationships. For years we have been trying to share our knowledge, experience and support those in need. We are aware of the impact we have on the labour market, the environment and our local communities. We are involved in charitable and educational activities and sponsorship of cultural events.
We cooperate with non-governmental organisations (foundations, associations), children's homes, nursing homes and single mother's homes by making in-kind donations to them. We also do not forget about animals, providing food to shelters and animal care societies.
We Help As we can
In 2017, together with our employees, we initiated the “We help as we can” campaign. During the first four editions, we have reached out to more than 600 organisations across Poland, providing them with aid worth PLN 18.5 million. From January 2021 to May 2023, we donated another PLN 11 million – this time to organizations that help women in difficult life situations.
From May 2023, we’ve been supporting the renovation of the Developmental Neurology and Epileptology Clinic at the Polish Mother's Health Centre Institute in Łódź. A clinic that treats diseases of the nervous system in children as young as 1 month old. It saves and improves the quality of life of patients from all over Poland.
For many years we have also been cooperating with, among others, the TVN Foundation “Nie jesteś sam” (“You’re not alone”) in the sale of teddy bears and with the “Wiosna” (“Spring”) Association in the Valentine's Day “lollipop” campaign.

We act responsibly
Code of Ethics
It summarizes the values that have guided our business since the beginning of our operations. The Code includes information on our approach to respecting the law and counteracting fraud, but also on the need for equal treatment, respect for diversity, communication (including social media) as well as sustainable trade and responsible business. The Code applies to all employees.
Diversity Charter
In 2017, Rossmann became a signatory to the Diversity Charter, an international initiative supported by the European Commission. We have learned that different life experiences, differences in gender, age or world-view allow us to look at things from different perspectives. This is the diversity of our employees, business partners or customers which holds enormous potential. That's why we support a culture of diversity.
We are creating a friendly place to work
Our employees are our capital. Their knowledge, experience and energy are building the future of Rossmann. Our goal is to build an organizational culture within the company based on respect and understanding. We are committed to making our employees feel that they are important to us. By attaching particular importance to creating a friendly working environment for employees, we expect that everyone will take care of a friendly atmosphere and respect for others. We believe that a workplace will be friendly if, in addition to comfortable working conditions, it provides the opportunity to develop competences and interests.
Safety
The safety of our employees, clear and understandable standards and procedures, and compliance with legal regulations are our priorities. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the Health and Safety Department to educate employees in addition to advising and controlling health and safety activities. We strive to minimize the number of accidents at work, and raise the skills and awareness of employees in this area. In 2020, we received a safety certificate based on the ISO 45001 standard, and since 2013 we have been systematically introducing the Employee Access to Defibrillation System (PAD) in our offices. We are constantly raising the awareness of our employees of the principles of first aid - we conduct periodic training and workshops, reminding them of the basic issues related to the implemented AED system. Every year, we also organize “Health and Safety Week,” to promote safe work practices and a healthy lifestyle. We have implemented the Healthy Spine programme for office workers and, since 2017, employees have been able to benefit from office massages provided by qualified physiotherapists.
Employee volunteering
We encourage everyone to get involved in volunteering. Our employees have the opportunity to do a variety of work for those in need, which is a huge support for local institutions and NGOs. Volunteer employees can test their skills, develop talents, learn more about other people, and become more sensitive to the world. Together with many of them, we also deeply believe that such actions bring great satisfaction and joy.
As part of employee volunteering, we are involved in various initiatives: we carry out renovations, clean gardens, walk dogs, organize thematic workshops and educational tours, and contribute to the “Noble Parcel” (“Szlachetna Paczka”) national campaign. In addition, we support our employees with individual assistance projects.
We organize blood collections in cooperation with the Lodz blood donation station. We are aware that by donating blood we save human lives. Since 2017, we have made it easier for our employees to register with the bone marrow donor database.
Care for the natural environment

We realize that running a large business like ours is not indifferent to the environment. We believe that the scale of our operations requires us to pay particular attention to how our decisions and the way we operate affect the natural environment, which is our common good. With future generations in mind, we are guided by the principles of sustainability in our operations.
Starting in 2019, we have already implemented an Environmental Policy along with an Action Plan for the following years This document helped us define our obligations towards the environment and our surroundings, including by analysing the environmental impact of our decisions and actions throughout the value chain, saving energy, optimising fuel consumption and protecting water resources. Our goal is to move towards a circular economy. The action plan is updated on a 2-year cycle.
We are also optimizing logistics processes and reducing energy and water consumption. In 2019, filters appeared in our stores that allow to drink water directly from the tap. In our offices, we have resigned from waste bins at every workstation, and we print documents on eco-friendly paper – only if they absolutely have to be printed. We have replaced lighting in our drugstores and distribution centres with LEDs, and we are installing photovoltaic panels on the roofs of our buildings. We have closed the circulation of stretch film from our warehouses. In mid-2020, at the drugstore in Manufaktura in Lodz, we set up refill stations for our customers - vending machines where customers can refill reusable bottles, such as shampoo, shower gel, laundry or dishwashing detergent. This is our contribution to reducing plastic consumption. We are systematically expanding our offer of products with natural ingredients, vegan and waterless, and in 2023 we have planted over 50,000 trees in Lodz and the surrounding area, which create the first Rossmann forest.
